How long will i have to wear a chin strap after chin liposuction? i don't want anyone to know i've had work done, so i don't want to go out wearing a chin strap. how soon after chin liposuction can i stop wearing it? or at least only wear it at home?

This : This recommendation will cary from surgeon to surgeon. I generally recommend wearing the chin strap for a week and then only at night for a few more weeks. The strap helps get the skin to seat back up properly after liposuction and also helps reduce post-operative swelling.

This : This recommendation is individualized. Some patients only need compression for 2 weeks while other patients benefit from wearing the compression garment at night up to six weeks after surgery.

A few weeks: By gravity all of the swelling wants to hang down under your chin, so not wearing the strap will make the center neck have more swelling and not heal as well. The strap will keep the swelling minimum and make you heal in a better shape. Depending on how extensive the lipo has been, it is up to your surgeon's discretion to discontinue your strap.

1 week: I generally recommend the use of the chin strap for 1 week.
