Have : Have your doctors rescanned prostate area and pelvis. Our experience is that sometimes there is a localized form of prostate cancer growth that can be treated by surgery or additional focused radiotherapy. Your doctors need to watch the trend in psa carefully, as it may continue to rise despite shots to decrease testosterone level. This is termed hormone refractory prostate cancer. If this is happening, options include: a stronger anti-androgen (anti-testosterone) drug, such as abiraterone or medi-522 (medivation), or vaccine therapy (provenge). Consider clinical trials at a cancer center with specialists in gu cancer, as they may provide these and other effective options with free drug.

Depends on staging: Your treatment options depend on whether there is still persistent cancer in the prostate or whether it is thought to have spread beyond the prostate. If it's still in the prostate you may be a candiate for more local treatment. Multiparametric MRI could be helpful in evaluating whether you have persistent disease in the prostate.
