I have a small painless bump on the left side of my neck, what could this be? had it for a long time but never caused me any pain/discomfort

This : This is difficult to answer without a clinical examination. It could be many things including a cyst, a lipoma, a lymph node, a skin cancer, a benign skin growth, or many other possibilities. Take a look at a picture of a cyst and the different skin cancers at the link below. I hope that helps!
