Dr. : Dr. Mcleod is correct. Fractured teeth don't always show the fracture on the radiograph. Is the tooth sensitive to thermal stimulus? Have your dentist put extreme pressure on the cusps of the affected teeth, one at a time. This may indicate which tooth, if any, has a fracture. Fractured teeth are sometimes very difficult to isolate and diagnose.

It : It might be prudent to have further evaluation by a dentist who has a cvbt available. This can take a 3d xray sometimes, but not always, allows that dentist to see a crack not seen on a treditional 2d xray.

Cracked : Cracked tooth syndrome can develop from grinding. Grinding is an abnormal stress on the teeth and can break teeth. Microcracks will not show up on xrays. An endodontist, a specialist in the nerves of the teeth can most likely run some test on the teeth to see if this is the problem. On the other hand, grinding can cause the tooth to be inflammed. The teeth can be sore due to stretching ot the ligament around the tooth. You can try a professional nightguard to see if this helps. Many times grinding is indicative of TMJ or bite problems and even sleep apnea. Hope this helps.

Large : Large silver fillings with a width more than one third of the distance between the cusps will crack the tooth. Grinding your teeth can break then too. If you have pain on biting, notice if there is as spark of increased pain on releasing the bite. If you have pain on releasing the bite then you have cracked tooth symdrome. See your dentist and let him check it all out. Dr. Neil mcleod dds dentistry that lasts - quality that counts.

Most likely CTS: The teeth with cracked tooth syndrome usually have fractures that are too small to be detected on X-rays. People who grind or clench their teeth often develop the cracked tooth syndrome. Treatments for this condition do not always completely relieve the symptoms. Prevention is the key, ask your dentist for a hard night guard fabrication.
