At : At this point you may consider taking her to a child psychologist. She may be dealing with a case of post traumatic stress disorder as a result of her illness and due to her previously choking (not clear about this from your post). At this point a mental health professional should step in and really figure out what is going on with her and recommend a treatment plan from a therapy/counseling perspective. How can this be? : Not eating for several days can be fatal, even with hydration, so how is your daughter getting nourishment? Was her strep so painful that she won't take anything in her mouth because of this very negative association? I would see a child psychologist and start inventing techniques that make mouth associations very pleasurable, and certainly not anxiety causing.
