Orajel : Orajel is a topical anesthetic used for temporary relief of minor tooth/gingival pain. The active ingredient is benzocaine, which is acidic. Overuse may cause a slight chemical burn of the soft tissue, which then could swell due to the irritation. Did you use the orajel for a toothache? If so, then the swelling could be coming from the tooth. If that is the case you need to see your dentist for treatment before the infection/swelling worsens.

Underlying cause: You are obviously using oragel for a reason. Oragel itself does not cause swelling. There is another reason. See your dentist!

Other way around: You probably have an oral lesion (infected tooth, infected gums, traumatic insult, etc) that has caused the swelling. Whatever it is, OTCs seem to be ineffective. Please see your Dentist for examination, differential diagnosis, and appropriate treatment.
