It : It is possible for a girl this age to start her menses. Menses (period) usually starts about 1-2 years after breast buds become present. The stains you saw could have been normal dischsrge that is present due to the hormonal changes that occur prior to the period starting. Therefore if she has breast buds that have become apparent in the last year then she will likely have her period soon. Lastly, it is best to explain what will hapopen to her before it actually happens. If you unsure or need help ask her pediatrician, or there are multiple children's book on this topic that may help.
Take care.
