Not : Not all wisdom teeth needs to be removed, but if there is a chance that it will cause a problem in the future (impaction against adjacent tooth, pericoronitis, insufficient access to properly clean, development of cysts), i'd take it out. In some cases, extraction of wisdom teeth have to be weighed against the possibility of nerve damage during the extraction - it's best to consult your local oral surgeon if this is your situation.

Infections harm you: If you have a painful partially erupted wisdom tooth it is usually caused by a swollen and infected gum over part of the tooth. Eventually this infection may well get worse and can threaten your overall health. The best answer is to get the area checked by your dentist and eliminate the problem now rather than later.

Why?: Why does it hurt? Is it infected, is the gum infected, has the adjacent tooth been damaged, is it sore simply because it's erupting? The only way to find out is to see a dentist and discuss treatment options. Failure to do so may lead to extensive and expensive complications.
