Sounds : Sounds like circumvallate papillae--normal structures on the back of the tongue. They can be hard to see since they are at about or just beyond the "horizon" of the tongue where it curves down into the throat. People tend to notice them when they self examine for a new sore throat. Search for images on the web and compare what you are seeing.

Bumps on tongue: From what you describe, these sound like what are called lingual tonsils. This is tonsilar tissue that is located on side and top of tongue way in the back. If you have any questions, go see your dentist for am exam. He/she will make sure that this is all that these are and not something else. Make the call and put your mind at ease.
