Even : Even though i can't tell for sure what is going on without examining you, it sounds a lot like you might have gastroesophageal reflux disease. The symptoms include: - heartburn - sore throat - "lump in the throat" sensation or difficulty swallowing - acidic or sour taste in your mouth - dry cough - hoarseness - regurgitation (wet burps) symptoms are often worse while laying down or with weight gain you should see an otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat doctor) or a gastroenterologist. In the meantime, there are many things you can try in order to improve your symptoms: - try antacids such as Tums (calcium carbonate) or maalox or try an acid reducer such as ranitidine (zantac) or Famotidine (pepcid). - try to get back down to a healthy weight - eat smaller meals - avoid heartburn triggers such as soda, tomato, citrus, caffeine - if you smoke - stop smoking - wait at least three hours after a meal before laying down good luck!

Throat symptoms: I would start by seeing your primary care provider. S/he can refer to appropriate specialist if necessary.
