Bell's : Bell's palsy is a condition in which the muscles of facial expression become weak or paralyzed because of an injury to the facial nerve. Related symptoms include changes in hearing, decreased production of tears and saliva, and decreased sense of taste. One of the most serious problems that can result from bell's palsy is injury to the cornea of the eye, caused by inability to fully close the eyelids. Most cases of bell's palsy are considered "idiopathic, " although they are probably caused by a viral infection. Some cases are caused by serious underlying problems, such as strokes, tumors, other infections, and other unusual problems. Persistent headache is an unusual symptom of bell's palsy and should be re-evaluated by a doctor to look for unusual or unexpected causes.
