Truthfully- well...: After 3 months there is NO improvement? So, what you've affected is the tympanic branch of the facial nerve to the tiny little muscle called the stapedius. This little sucker's paralysis makes the difference between Bongos sounding beautifully rhythmic to giving you a headache in 3 seconds! Amazing, no? Unfortunately, no great way to predict return of function. Be patient & wear an earplug for now

Incomplete recovery?: Like the other symptoms of Bell's palsy, the speed of recovery from hyperacusis depends on many factors including the timing of presentation, whether corticosteroids were administered, etc. Some patients have an incomplete recovery.
