If : If we are talking about surgical intervention for an abdominal aortic aneurysm, then the risks of surgery to repair the aneurysm are as follows: risk of rupture during the procedure infection blood loss pneumonia heart attack stroke reaction to anesthesia death from any of the above it is also important to note that the risks increase with age and the presence of other medical conditions(heart disease, lung disease, diabetes) depending on the type of surgery(open or endovascular) that will be done, the risks could vary. Several: Depends on ones other risk factors . Age, diabetes, kidney, smoking etc. May be amenable to endovascular or open surgery. Most have some plaque, and 4 cm is small
