What is patch clamp imaging used to detect? my doctor briefly mentioned patch clamp imaging, but didn't really explain what it was for.

Research: Patch clamp recordings are a method for recording the electrical activity of individual nerve cells. Imaging can be performed as a part of this research. This is not a medical imaging tool, to my knowledge.
