Culture: Your doctor can send a urine culture which can tell you which bacteria is responsible and which antibiotics it's susceptible to. He or she can even start treating you empirically first with something common, like Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) ds until the culture results come back. If the bacteria is resistant, the antibiotic can be changed. Good luck!
