A : A normal adult heart rate is 60 to 100 beats per minute. If your heart rate is running in the 160's, you may be in an arrythmia such as atrial fibrillation or supraventricular tachycardia. You need to see a doctor right away as being in this rapid heart rate is tiring to the heart muscle and can cause tissue damager and precipitates blood clots that can lead to stroke and heart attack.
