While : While high blood pressure is considered a high risk condition, low blood pressure does not necessarily carry the same risks. Many people live quite normally with a blood pressure like yours. Let your doctor know if you feel dizzy or weak with with this blood pressure. Also, let your doctor know if your systolic blood pressure (top number) drops below 90, as you may not be perfusing the body organs well enough. Ways to increase your blood pressure: 1. Drink more water every day. Increasing the amount of fluid you drink will increase your blood volume, and therefore your blood pressure 2. Eat more salt. More salt will make your body retain water, increasing your blood volume. Consult a doctor before adding salt to your diet 3. Wear compression stockings, especially when on your feet. This promotes better circulation. 4. Take your blood pressure regularly and report abnormal changes (20 point differences) to your doctor. 5. Let your doctor know if your blood pressure is below 90/60, and if you are ever dizzy or weak.

Healthy: If you're feeling okay, 96 is a heck of a good blood pressure! on the other hand, if someone has just shot you, 96 may be a bit low. You see: it's not the absolute number that counts, it's the context.
