For angiography, why use artery in my groin? why does the doctor start in an artery so far away from my heart. wouldnt it be safer to start closer to my heart?

We : We use the femoral artery in your groin because this has become the standard approach for inserting a catheter to inject dye into your heart arteries. There are arteries closer to your heart, specifically in your arm, that are being used more frequently now. Radial artery procedures are gaining momentum because the risk of complications such as bleeding are less common than with a femoral approach. Recently, however, there has been some data to suggest radiation exposure may be higher with the radial artery approach.
