When : When you have the lasik surgery, the nerves to your cornea is severed during the creation of the flap. This causes decrease in the corneal sensation. This lead to decrease in the blink rate and dryness caused by the prolonged exposure. Fortunately, the nerve will grow back. It will take 4~6 month for the nerves to fully grow back. Therefor, it is imperative that you lubricate your eye with frequent dosing of the artificial tears until your corneal nerves are fully restored. This should have been fully explained to the patient prior to the surgery.

Dry eye: Dry eye after lasik resolves over a period of months. If you had dryness before the surgery, it may take longer to recover completely.
