Astigmatism : Astigmatism is when the cornea is shaped more like a football than a basketball. Depending on your specific situation, even very high amounts of astigmatism can be fixed. Our very happiest patients have had high astigmatism. The reason that high astigmatism patients are so happy is that they do not have good vision at any distance without correction. With glasses, you see only perfectly through the optical center of your spectacles. If wearing contact lenses, many complain that their vision changes every time that they blink. When we put the correction directly on the cornea, not only do you get good vision, but you also have normal peripheral vision.

Possible: Irregular corneal shape where curvature is elliptical rather than spherical can sometimes be corrected by refractive surgery. See a refractive surgery specialist.
