No: If ear wax is occluding the ear canal it can affect the volume of sound but not the pitch.

Ear Wax: At times ear wax can completely occlude the ear canal - which causes a loss of hearing on the effected side. Any hearing loss should be evaluated by and ENT and audiologist. Ear wax plugging can typically be cleared in one office visit with an ent.
