Absolutely! : Absolutely! every woman after age 40 should have a yearly screen mammogram based on guidelines from the american college of radiology. The breast implants do not affect your chances of developing breast cancer. One in eight women develop breast cancer during her lifetime with or without implants. Mammograms on women with breast implants include a couple of additional views called implant displaced views. In these views, the mammography technologist positions the breasts in such a way that the implant is displaced and most of the breast tissue is not obscured by the implant. Implants do make it more difficult to evaluate the breasts using mammography, but mammography is still the screening method of choice.

Absolutely yes!: Having a breast augmentation does not reduce your chance of gettin breast cancer (nor increase it). You must find a radiology dr and radiographer who are comfortable in both taking, an rwading mammograms of women who have had breat implants.

Yes: Not all of breast tissue is visualized on any mammogram and that percentage goes up a little after implant placement; however, a majority of the breast is visualized and screenings should be done as indicated by your symptoms and medical history indicate.

Yes and yes: You just need to inform the technician that you have implants so they use a different technique. Having breast implants dose not prevent breast cancer so you will need to be screened as any other woman.

Yes and Yes: You should continue with self breast exams and mammograms, despite having undergone breast augmentation. Breast implants will interfere with mammograms, less so when placed in the sub muscular position as opposed to the sub glandular position. Mammographers will use a “displacement” technique in order to visualize as much breast tissue as possible.

Yes: And yes. Your implants do not decrease the chance of getting cancer(or increase it). Accuracy of mammo is not significantly decreased, but twice as many views will need to be done because special implant displacement views are necessary.
