Yes: When a liver abscess ruptures, the person can go into septic shock. The person may need emergency surgery, and acute care in an intensive care unit with antibiotics. With proper treatment, the person can survive.

Absolutely: It is definitely possible to survive septic shock. The most important thing is finding the source and treating it quickly and aggressively. The shock can last a long time, and it also can cause significant damage. But, you can survive.

Yes: Even severe sepsis is survivable. Many factors influence recovery including: 1) other medical conditions, 2) evidence of secondary organ dysfunction (ie associated kidney injury), 3) patient age, and 4) the ability to successfully control the source.
