How does one become a dentist?

Medical School: You need to get an undergraduate degree, then be accepted into a dental program and received a doctorate in dentistry. It takes many years and hard work.

Study, study, study: Dental school is a 4-year program after college. Many states require extra training after that, for example, a year in a hospital based residency program. Specialty training takes even longer, and may occur either in a post-graduate dental school training program, or in a hospital-based program. There are also many excellent continuing education programs that a dentist should continue to take.
