TMJ problem...: Your symptoms point to TMJ problem. You may have the problem prior to the appt. But it has not surfaced yet and during the root canal treatment you must open your mouth wide for a long time. This can trigger the symptoms. You can use hot and cold moist facial towels intermittenly applied at the joint area. Longer (around 30 sec.) with the heat vs. 10 sec. Cold. Contact your dentist.

Injection: Possibly the injection has caused trauma. Or if your mouth was open for a long time during the root canal. The other possibility is if there was a lot of infection there before rootcanal that perhaps the infection did not get resolved and has spread to surrounding tissue. You have to see a dentist to rule out which one is the cause. Sorry to hear this is happening to you.
