Possibly: If the root canal therapy has been completed and the root sealed, it is OK to delay the placement of the final restoration for a week or two. If the treatment has not yet been completed, then there is a risk of contaminating the tooth and having to start over.

Depends: Depends on the progress of the treatment and the condition of any remaining infection. If the infection is under control, there is no swelling or pain, and if the canal opening is thoroughly sealed, there should be no problem in waiting a short while. However, it is always best to ask the dentist who is doing the treatment.
