A member asked:

Is baking soda and hydrogen peroxide used as whitener unhealthy for teeth and gums?

Not necessarily: Baking soda, if brushed/rubbed on the teeth can be too abrasive and hurt the enamel. Additionally, it probably wont be as effective as whitening your teeth at your dentist's office.

No: If used properly, baking soda and peroxide not only helps keep teeth white, but can help keep your gums healthy and your mouth fresh. If you don't mind the taste, it's a cheap and excellent dentifrice.

Not recommended: You can use over the counter tooth paste or crest 3D whitening strips or pens. However, they are not so effective and/or stable. OTC bleach and whitening tooth paste could be used as a supplement only. A professional home whitening system with custom trays for the long term effect. You will be very happy with the results.
