Phacoemulsification: A microsurgical cataract surgery through clear cornea with a small incision. It is done as an outpatient surgery under a topical anesthesia. The incision can be made with a blade, a diamond blade or laser. The cataract is extracted with ultrasonic machine called phacoemulsification. Then the cataract is replaced with intraocular lens implant. The implant can be a single vision or a multifocal.
