How long before you can drive legally after a cataract removal?

Depends: In most cases, patients are able to drive within 24-48 hours of cataract surgery. Not on the day of surgery itself, because sedatives are commonly used. Depending on the rate of healing, the status of the other eye, and other coexistant eye diseases, the majority of patients can resume driving within 48 hours. Ask your surgeon for their advice about this issue.

Many times, Next Day: With modern cataract surgery, vision rehabilitation is usually very fast. Most patients without other eye problems may be able to drive the next day after surgery. This must be determined by your doctor in follow up visits.
