The most effective anxiety relievers belong to a family called benzodiazepines (xanax, valium, ativan, etc) but they are highly addictive. It should help: Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) can help with panic attacks, but it will take at least 4-6 weeks to show its effect. Work with your doctor and be patient. This may not be easy sometimes, but hopefully you'll have relief. Please don't forget that psychotherapy is an important part of treatment for panic and anxiety too.
