See below: Technically, Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is an antidepressant (but some antidepressants are also used for anxiety). The most effective anxiety relievers belong to a family called benzodiazepines (xanax, valium, ativan, etc) but they are highly addictive. Meds like paxil, wellbutrin or Buspar can be used for anxiety without the addictive potential. Exercise & meditation are also good for relieving anxiety. Counselling.

It should help: Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) can help with panic attacks, but it will take at least 4-6 weeks to show its effect. Work with your doctor and be patient. This may not be easy sometimes, but hopefully you'll have relief. Please don't forget that psychotherapy is an important part of treatment for panic and anxiety too.

Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) and Panic: Yes, it may eventually but consult a licensed psychologist who is an expert in treating ptsd. If your pains persist, consider seeing your physician for an evaluation, too.
