Knee pain: I do not know if you have any other medical problems but would first rule out pain from arthritis or some other inflammatory condition. Try a nsaids before you go to bed. If no improvement get an x-ray and a medical evaluation.

Knee pain: Consider arthritis or synovitis. It could be positional irritation of the joint or synovial lining. Consider sleeping with pillow between the knees.

See your doctor: You could have a host of issues that could cause your knee pain, could be bursitis, tendonitis, arthritis, ligament issues, meniscal injury, sciatica etc. So you may want to see an orthopedic pain specialist that can tell you what is going and help you with the latest treatments available.
