Pericardiocentesis: Pericardiocentesis is removal of fluid from the sack surrounding the heart and is quite easy. Ultrasound is usually used to localize the sack around the heart and a long needle is inserted below the breast bone and through the outer layer around the heart, fluid is then removed to relieve pressure around the heart . It takes only a few minutes.

Cordocentesis: This really depends on who is doing the procedure. IT is done under Ultrasound guidance. One has to see the position of the placenta - anterior placenta is more risky. Also position of the fetus can be a major factor as well. For the patient its not uncomfortable if good local anesthetic is given.
