Anesthesia for D&E: Usually, in a patient of normal height and weight without gerd, this procedure is done under mac (monitored anesthesia care) anesthesia that often involves versed (benzodiazepine), fentanyl ( synthetic narcotic) and Propofol (sedative/induction agent. All standard monitors are in place and supplemental oxygen is used.
