What is the difference between celiac disease and ibs?

Mechanical: Celiac disease is due to an immune response to food allergens, usually gluten in wheat products. Ibs is a neuro-mechanical problem due to an over-responsive GI tract. Celiac disease responds to an elimination diet, while IBS can be treated with fiber, diet modifications and antispasmodic medications.

Celiac vs IBS: Celiac is an autoimmune disease (not a food allergy) where the IgA antibody is directed against the cells that break down gluten...So u become intolerant. Ibs is a wastebasket term when there are GI related issues (diarrhea, bloating, etc.) that does not have a true clinical diagnosis based on looking for other GI diseases.
