I've just had a toe operation and had screws put in my big toe. do these screws stay in it or will they be taken out?

Hardware: Screw hardware for toe or bunion surgery is made to stay in unless of infection, painful hardware, complication, etc older type of hammertoe correction use temporary fixation wih kwires post operatively for 4-6weeks then they're removed.

It would depend: There are some procedures where the screw is put in temporarily with the plan to remove after 6-8 weeks. Other times, they are left in. I am surprised this was not discussed with the doctor prior to the surgery. Your surgeon is the one who knows the answer.

Stay in: Typically hardware like screws are left in unless they cause pain or back out.
