Dow Corning + Cronin: Dow corning corporation (no longer in existence) is attributed with producing the first widely available silicone breast implants as well as silicone for other medical devices under the clinical guidance of dr.S cronin and gerow in 1961. A loosely based entertaining story on the history starred david shwimmer and is called "breast men ".

50th anniversary: Drs. Cronin & gerow in 1961, working with dow corning developed the first (silicone) breast implant. First implantation in 1962. Story has it that the doctors got their idea from a bag of blood that felt like a breast. They got to work and now (50 years later) we have a very popular device for reconstruction and aesthetic surgery.
