Somewhat: Though not very common, young children can develop ingrown toenails very early in life. In those cases it is very important for them to be treated by a podiatrist.

Not uncommon: If they tend to pick or tear at the nails. What I have noticed in these cases is that often an oral antibiotic is effective and an ingrown toenail surgery is not required.

Nail care in childre: To avoid the problem cut the child's nails straight across and make sure his shoes are not too tight.
