Is there any risk in having eye floaters your whole life?

Yes, but small: Eye floaters are generally a common part of the aging process. Rarely, a floater may indicate an eye problem. New floaters or changes in your floaters should prompt an evaluation with your eye doctor.

No risk usually: All new floaters warrant a dilated fundus exam to evaluate for retinal tears. Having floaters for a long time is not unusual. If there is no retinal tear or detachment, then there is no risk to having a few floaters.
