A member asked:

Can you be diagnosed with sleep shift work disorder if you happen to be a stay at home parent?

Probably not: If you have a special need child who spends daytime hours in daycare and you have to do the rest at night, you can make a case for that. You are more likely to have insufficient sleep, or irregular sleep wake pattern.

Nice question. : No. So far the travails of a stay at home parent having disrupted sleep from an infant being up at night does not meet the criteria for shift work dyssomnia.
