A member asked:

When a child grows resistent ( esbl kleb o ) regularly in their lungs/trach, would high-dose amoxicillan be effective against a pneumonia (no c&s)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely not: But not impossible. No klebsiella is sensitive to Amoxicillin since all produce an enzyme called betalactamase. Just cause one is colonized by a resistant bug doesn't mean that the bug is in the lungs causing pneumonia isn't a much more sensitive one.
