My 8 yr old has pneumonia. has been on amoxicillin for 4 days. high fever is gone and just coughing a lot. he seems fine other than cough but in the evening has a temp between normal or 99.5. is this okay or are the meds not strong enough?

Sounds good: A mild fever is just evidence of the extra metabolic work during recovery. A significant cough may last weeks. As long as he is returning gradually to his normal activities I would consider this normal. An abrupt return of high fever & decline in condition would suggest meds are not working.
