Maybe: Most likely the cyst will pop once injected and will go away for a while. However, there is high chance for it to come back. My experience getting it removed has better results, but injections or aspiration of the cyst works as well.

Ganglions: Ganglions are very common in the foot and ankle and may occur from an ankle sprain or injury. It is a fluid filled cyst that occurs in the tendon sheath and can be treated with cortisone. Sometimes they are drained and other times they are surgically removed if they are recurrent. Cortisone must be used with caution.

Doctors do : Give them. However, i don't know if there is any real difference in outcome between draining a ganglion with injection of cortisone versus drainage and no cortisone. The primary treatment is the draining, the cortisone injection is an adjunct procedure.

Needle this cyst: Drainage and needling of the cyst to break up the sack. Cortisone and compression is helpful in an attempt to scar down the tissue over the tendon. It has a 50% success rate.
