Depends on : Which part of your colon was exteriorized as a stoma and the clinical reason for the surgery. You do not give enough information to give a better answer.

Colon still there: Stomas are usually from either the small intestine or large intestine(colon). Stomas bring intestinal contents to a bag on the abdominal wall to bypass a distal problem usually. The stoma can be at any level and the colon above and below a stoma in the colon remains in the patient unless it was removed.
