Glycerin suppository--does it just affect the rectum and lower sigmoid colon (stimulation and water)? or does it affect the rest of the colon?

Just rectum: Glycerin is an irritant stimulant. It only affects the area it comes in contact with. However, by relieving a blockage in the rectum, you may be able to fully empty your colon, especially if you have used a stool softener by mouth.
