How long broken?: The answer to this question really has to take into account how long the ear drum has been perforated. If this happened recently, or if your child had tubes and they just recently fell out, the ear drum may very well heal spontaneously. On the other hand, if this is long term hole that hasn't healed on its own, it needs to get fixed or there may be permanent problems may develop with hearing!
