Visit with doctor: In someone who has had a history of esophageal cancer, symptoms like worsening cough, back pain and a new lump should prompt a visit with your doctor or oncologist. Either can perform an exam and other tests to determine what is going on.

With this history : One should first rule out that there is not any recurrent carcinoma in terms of a spread or metastasis that could be related to either or both symptoms. You need to see the oncologist or your doctor now..
