Orofacial Pain : Although osteomyelitis can have grave consequences, you should consult an orofacial pain dentist for a proper diagnosis and management plan. You could find one on www.Aaop.Org.

You need two...: The loss of the temporomandibular joint may actually need the intervention of two specialists-- an oral surgeon to manage the refractory infection, and a prosthodontist to compensate for bite changes. Ideally, these specialists would work collaboratively. To find an oral surgeon and a prosthodontist, follow these two links: http://www.Aaoms.Org/findoms.Php and http://tinyurl.Com/ajhbc8w.

Dr. Wolford: If this were my family member i would see dr. Larry wolford in dallas, texas. I believe he is the best oral surgeon for these type of problems but remember a second and third opinion would be in order no matter who you see first.

Address cause: All too often malocclusion is directly causative of or contributory to TMJ problems. Please also seek an orthodontic consultation before any more surgery of teeth, joints, or muscles are done.

AACFP: In your area, i would consider going to the website: www.Aacfp.Org american academy of craniofacial pain. Their members normally have been well trained in treating tmj/tmd. With multiple surgeries, hopefully a conservative approach can be utilized with physical therapy and possibly a different type of mouthpiece.
