Probable revision: Typically hammertoes are fixed by releasing the bottom toe flexor tendon contracture with a combination of a fusion or arthroplasty. If the fusion never occured that bone on bone pain could last until it's refixed or definitively.

You do not : State how long ago you had the surgery. Some issues that are possible include: nerve entrapment, chronic regional pain syndrome. If the surgery is recent, post op pain can last a couple of weeks. During this time period pain killers could be taken.
