Get evaluation: Any pain that is persistent and as severe as you describe should be evaluated by your doctor or orthopedist. Fortunately, if the pain is not disabling during the day and has persisted this long, it is unlikely to be life threatening. Factors that may cause pain include mount and type of activity, alignment of the leg bones, dehydration, referred pain from the sciatic nerve in the spine, etc.
