Months, not days: Your risk for blood clots is higher during and immediately following pregnancy, and your uterus is still enlarged after delivery, making the immediate post-partum period the wrong time to have a tummy tuck. I ask my patients to wait until they are at or near their pre-pregnancy weight, typically a few months after delivery.

Minimum 3 months: If your weight is back to normal and you are not breast feeding, three months to normalize your hormones is a bare minimum, and longer is better. Obviously, if breast feeding, you will need to pump and store, stop, and arrange care for the little one! you should be sure you are finished having babies!

Six months : If you're done nursing by then, your belly would have had enough time to retract to some degree. But if you are still nursing or planning to have more children, you'd better wait longer.

6 Months at Least: The “ideal” patient for tummy tuck surgery is one who has completed pregnancies, is psycho socially/emotionally/financially stable, has an excellent social support system surrounding him/her, is capable of arranging enough recovery time and who has reached a long-term stable weight.

6 months: It usually takes about 6 months for the physiologic changes of pregnancy to settle back down to baseline. That's why we wait to perform the tummy tuck.
